PART 2: THE OUTCOME
"Not "A Mason:
Now, let A.:TT:.A guide you through the outcome and explain why we included certain information in our blog post yesterday. The first thing to keep in mind is that, to become a Freemason, the most important rule is to have a belief in a "creator," though the specifics of that belief are not defined. One must believe in a supreme creator.
(Source: "The Freemasons: A History of the World's Most Powerful Secret Society" by Jasper Ridley)
As for Charles Darwin, who had notable Freemason members in his family tree but was "not" (there is no proof is what it is) one himself, he became one of the fathers of atheism. However, he did say this about God:
“I am not an Atheist, but I am not a Christian. The mystery of the universe is too great for me. I do not believe in the Bible in the sense that it is inspired by God, but I do not deny that it has a moral value.”
(Source: "The Autobiography of Charles Darwin" edited by Nora Barlow)
From this, we can infer that Mr. Darwin, often regarded as one of the most famous figures of atheism, actually believed in a creator and acknowledged the moral value of religions, in his quote particularly Christianity.
At A.:TT:.A, we firmly believe that morality and values are what make us human.
The Resemblance:
In yesterday's post, we discussed the complexity of portrait-making and photography during Darwin’s time, as well as his personal distaste for his portraits. Now, let us highlight a rare but telling detail—an unmistakable hand gesture: the hand-in-coat pose, a known Masonic symbol.
While not as obvious as in other examples of the hand gesture used by other well known figures, this pose cannot be considered arbitrary or random in Darwin's portraits; especially considering the complexity of photography and portrait painting during his era and his personal discontent with both forms.
For someone like Darwin, who had close ties to Freemasonry and believed in a supreme creator (and was by no means an atheist), the slight but specific hand gesture he poses with is far from coincidental.
A.:TT:.A stick with "correct reality only" thus let us highlight that ; the famous portrait of Darwin, where he is depicted making the well-known Masonic "shhh" gesture, is not authentic. People to photoshop in such way to convince others into what they believe in is very against what we stand for.
The Division:
Now let’s examine the outcome.
The more divided people are, the more controllable they become.
The fewer people believe in a creator, the less they believe in each other either and they become more and more selfish. The more contradictory ideologies exist, the more fanaticism is created.
With more fanaticism comes more conflict, and with more conflict, the greater the potential for controlled chaos.
This chaos (created by seemingly opposite ideologies) is often exploited by those who, behind closed doors, (together) benefit from the very divisions they have created within society.
The division between atheism and theism is just one example.
In future posts, we will dive into other ideological divisions and explore how those who perpetuate these divides stand to gain from them.
